BRINKish.eu - Brink Game & News Community

BRINKish.eu suffered a major setback during the spring of 2011 which is why all our content from 2009, 2010 and early 2011 is missing. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this.

While we are working on making the best possible site for competitive Brink coverage we will use this fully functional site to keep you updated on what's going on in the BRINKish world with our main focus on Europe and the competitive scene on PC.

    Major Brink PC update

During the midsummer Splash Damage decided to release one of their biggest patches as of yet to Brink PC (which will also be for 360 and PS3 later on). With some nice changes, weapon tweaks and the return of devmap we’re still missing out on a demo function and first person spectating but it’s a step in the right direction.

The game’s first DLC, Agents of Change, will be FREE for two weeks on Xbox LIVE, PSN, and Steam! The content is currently in submission at Microsoft and Sony, and we expect it to release in early July. As previously mentioned, the DLC features two all-new environments, five new player abilities, two new outfits, and two new weapon attachments.

    ModShoot’s ExoBRINK #1 CUP Delayed!

We were planning to have the cup held this coming Sunday. However, due to the group stages of the ESL being held on the same day we have decided to postpone the event for a couple of weeks.

We would like to apologise for any issues this may cause the people planning to participate. However we believe to achive the best results during this cup it needs to not clash with any other major events within the brink community.

The ExoBRINK #1 will still go ahead… We are now in talks with a recognised name in cups, leauges and ladders and expect to have more news in the coming days.

Finally, We would like to wish all the teams taking part in these group stages this coming Sunday the best of luck.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

    Regards

A disappointed man of the W:ET-community Crossfire.nu writes a short but yet insightful view on Brink.

Time for Bethesda to wake up and Splash Damage to take action and stand up to their game publisher? The game could still be saved, but the competitive community need help by its developers.

    mousesports picks up 2stroNg!

Today (well, yesterday..) is a very good day as the G7-team mousesports (mouz), officially ventures into Brink as they pick up the talented and much heard of gentlemen in 2stroNg.

Today is a very good day. We’ve officially signed onto mouz and we couldn’t be happier. We’ve had some wake up calls in the past few days and now signing onto mouz - our motivation couldn’t be higher. We are so excited to have this opportunity and we’re all over the moon right now. Our first matches under the mouz name will be in the ESL Championship Group Stages, where we will be looking to make the mousesports name proud. At this time, we’d like to thank all of mouz management, especially Cengiz and René. A big shoutout to Benjamin Diener. Also shoutouts to all of mouz’s sponsors. Catch you on the playing field!

Great news as this might become an eyeopener for some other big organizations. Earlier on we did mention the fact mouz were looking to recruit a Brink squad and we did believe 2stroNg were among the better teams in a good position of making it to mouz. But the road have been somewhat bumpy with default losses here and there but they made it to the ESL championship via the Last Chance Qualifier and here they are..

    - The oh so happy new mouz-lineup:
    Josh “josh” Lee
    Evgeny “GENY” Kurabtsev
    Timo “Taimou” Kettunen
    Basti “kNALLER” Winklmeyer
    Michael “micHiiii” Rosen

    Best of luck guys!

    designate k1cking it Brink

The Polish team designate have been picked up by the Portuguese-based organization k1ck eSports Club. A very positive step forward, not just for them but for the Brink scene as whole.

We are really happy to be part of k1ck family and I’m sure we’ll do our best to represent k1ck in the best way we can. We’ve been playing together for quite a while, some of us know each other from Counter-Strike 1.5 days but mostly we’ve been playing together under the tag of wiechury/designate/default in ET:QW, with big success in such leagues like clanbase and esl, in tournaments such as Eurocup (2nd place), ESL Major Series top 5 and won many other tournaments hosted by those leagues.

We are seeded 4th at the ESL Brink Championship and we are looking forward to our next games. So keep the fingers crossed and wish us good luck and have fun.

    k1ck.Brink consist of:
    soee (Team Leader and Backup)
    bhn
    aA
    suri
    zielarz
    mojojo

Best of luck from the BRINKish crew guys.

    ESL Brink Championship Groups Released

The groupstage of the ESL Brink Championship is about to start and with that ESL have now released the groups. And this time they’ve seemed to got it right as there is no obvious “group of death”.

With H2k on.. ..shall we call it a “break”? Team-Aero managed to qualify for the last spot in group F making it the most even group on paper.

Along with the groups ESL have also updates their ruleset with even more restriction, good or bad. You tell us.

     Changelog Version 1.1 -> 1.2:

    • Removed ApplyServerConfig “competition” cvar, and inserted all cvars that cfg execed manualy
    • Removed improved weapon buff from engineer abilities. Engineer weapon buff now gives 17% more damage instead of 33%
    • Enabled CP buffs
    • Added g_gameReviewPause “0.33” to cfg
    • g_spectatorMode changed to 1 from 0

What’s your take on the groups? Who will qualify for the Playoffs? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments-section!

TWL 6v6 Brink Tournament VOD - Part 1

Day 1 of the Team Warfare League 6v6 Brink Tournament. A bit of a bumpy start, but future games went quite smoothly.

18:14 ESL|kevin16king • P1lote is the team founder, he claimed his teamaccount back and is free to invite or kick people how he would like to do

Let’s start right in the middle of the action. P1lote, founder of this esl account, was earlier kicked from 2stroNg. Legitimate IRC -sources are saying that p1lote on the other hand requested an esl admin to invite him back to 2strong which was orginaly formed by himself, and claimed admin rights to himself. The log showes that he started kicking the players who actually qualified for the esl tournament and invited new players to the team.

Stay tuned for the next episode of how to brink a drama!

    ***UPDATE***

BRINKish had the chance to talk to P1loTE (exclusively)

here is what he had to say:

    18:48 - P1loTE: their fault

    18:48 - P1loTE: :)
    18:49 - P1loTE: +
    8:48 - P1loTE: :)
    18:49 - P1loTE: cy@
    18:49 - caliban` brink mix?!: okay;>
    18:49 - P1loTE: danke  Translation: Thanks
    18:49 - P1loTE: :D

What he is saying is basically that it is his team and he can do what ever he wants with it.

    ***UPDATE***

As you all know a drama consists of 5 acts and it seems like this one just got into the 4th, the turning point, but will it also be the ending? For now it seems that the old players are rejoining the team.

sGs upset Epsilon, wins first ever ESL Brink Friday Cup

sGsBeing somewhat of a underdog, sGs Gaming upset Epsilon, winning the grand finale after a decider map. With that sGs are officially crowned the champions of the first ever Brink Friday Cup over at ESL.

    sGs-player Samurai told BRINKish.eu:
The final was the most epic game i have ever played, being 2 seconds aways from loosing it in the 1st map and then coming back to win it in the decider was our greatest game in Brink so far :)

Overall tournament i felt we had the hardest draw playing against some top teams like Designate and Cause then suprisingly hard game vs Rush Zone definitely did not make it easy.

    sGs road to the final:
    vs. Epsilon eSports (2-1)
    vs. Rush-Zone wOoHoOdY (2-0)
    vs. causeWEcan (2-0)
    vs. designate (2-0)

sGs lineup: Apoc, Ati, KAMZ, Rio, Samurai

Congrats to sGs from the BRINKish crew. Now, lets hope we get some (first person eventually) streaming going anytime soon as there are too many interesting games bring played but without a stream.

BrinkTV +10 Second Defense Respawn Test

In an effort to improve the competitive mode of Brink, called stopwatch, Brink TV had teams test out whether adding a full 10 seconds to the DEFENSE respawn time would flat-out break the game. The results were quite solid and seemed to have a good impact on helping make the game more offensively biased.

    The Anderson Brink Guide

One of the better players around, Team Dignitas Estonian, Anderson have written a very nice Brink guide over at Intel.com that could prove very useful to many, both hardcore- and pub-players.

    Here’s a snippet..

    Console commands & miscellaneous tweaks
To my surprise, many of the console commands that worked in ET: Quake Wars have been disabled in Brink. This helps level the competitive playing field, but restricts players who would like to fine-tune their setup. Only a handful of commands are available, besides turning the main options down, that will have any significant impact on the picture quality/frames per second. Players with low end hardware should definitely play on a 640x480 resolution to secure a reasonable FPS gain. The id Tech 4 engine might be 7 years old, but having been heavily modified it does still require a decent PC to run smoothly. As always, make sure you have the latest video card drivers if you want to get the best out of Brink.

    • Console can be reached with CTRL+ALT+CONSOLE BUTTON, use com_allowconsole “1” for faster access
    • The config files are located at C:\ProgramFiles\Steam\userdata\YOURSTEAMID\22350\local\base and to include all the binds in the file use “writeconfig autoexec” in console
    • Disabling the intro videos can be done in Brink’s steam launch options: add the line +set com_bootLogo “0”
    • Windowed mode can be achieved by com_useFastVidRestart “1”
    • ui_fov “102”, I recommend using a fov between 87 and 103
    • r_displayrefresh “” to set your monitor refresh rate
    • ui_showgun “0” to remove gun model, this is only favourable when playing with a low spread weapon like the SMG’s because the iron-sight vanishes
    • g_friendlyTextColor “0 1 0 1” (RGB) changes teammates health bar colour, the green I am using is much more eye-catching
    • seta s_volumeSpeech_db “-60” removes ambient noises
    • seta g_decals “0” removes bullet holes etc
    • seta g_enemyColor “1 0 0 1” highlights opponents on minimap
    • seta g_enemyTextColor “1 0 0 1” highlights opponents on minimap
    • seta image_anisotropy “0”
    • seta image_filter “GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_NEAREST”
    • seta r_offsetfactor “999”
    • seta r_offsetunits “2000”
    • seta r_shadows “0”
    • seta vt_lodbias “4” This command will reset to “2” every time you start Brink
    • seta com_machinespec “0”
